Celebrating Box Hill Institute’s Amazing Staff

Box Hill Institute’s Staff Achievement and Recognition Program Awards are an opportunity to formally recognise excellence amongst Box Hill Institute employees and pay tribute to their contribution.

The key aim of this program is to provide public recognition of employees and teams who exceed expectations, who embody our vision, mission and values, use outstanding professional practices and promote increased awareness of best practice.

Community Contribution Award

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE TEAM – Faculty of Health, Community & Life Sciences

The Early Childhood Education and Care Team established a Community of Practice group with local childcare centres and industry partners. The group meets regularly to hear from industry representatives, which shapes their training.

 

Innovation Award

SPECIALISED CLEANING SHORT COURSE TEACHERS – Corrections Victoria

In the midst of the global pandemic, Corrections Victoria approached Box Hill Institute about an opportunity to provide touch point cleaning training for prisoners who were selected to perform this vital role. This training was to be delivered in the prisons where Box Hill Institute provides education and training and an additional seven prisons.

STUDENT LIFE TEAM – Student Experience

The Student Life team demonstrated professional excellence in providing increased support for students in relation to their personal, academic and financial wellbeing, and addressing the complex needs of students affected by the global pandemic.

 

Industry Collaboration Award.

VIRTUAL HAIR EXPERIENCE: JOURNEY TO THE TOP – Faculty of Creative Industries & ICT

Virtual Hair Experience: Journey to the Top was a digital event to replace the cancelled Hair Expo due to COVID-19. Box Hill Institute produced the event in collaboration with Sharon Blain Education and targeted the Australian and New Zealand hairdressing industry, schools, career changers and hairdressers around the world. It featured inspiring stories by industry leaders to motivate and position hairdressing as an enjoyable, creative and worthwhile career choice.

 

Trainer of the Year

ANDREW WATTS – Faculty of Foundation, Sport & Business

Andrew is an outstanding and well-rounded trainer who is highly flexible and agile in responding to every challenge and situation. He has driven the growth of Outdoor Recreation through his passion for the industry and ensures the best for students while responding to industry trends to shape and enrich training.

 

CEO Commendation of Individual Excellence Award

DINO RAJAPAKSE – Faculty of Trades, Technology & Transport

In 2012, Dino started at Box Hill Institute as an international student with a great passion for the automotive industry and he was nominated for the International Student of the Year Award. After being in the automotive trade for a number of years, Dino was keen to share his knowledge of the industry by returning to Box Hill Institute as a teacher. Student at the Heart comes naturally to Dino because of his experience and his compassionate nature.  

 

CEO Award for Professional Excellence

The CORONAVIRUS WORKING GROUP 2020

The Coronavirus Working Group 2020 has contributed to all of Box Hill Institute's strategic themes by providing strategic and everyday advice to the Executive Leadership team. This advice influenced the decisions made to allow students and staff to continue working and learning during the Melbourne lockdown.
