Kristina De Francesco got her first taste of early childhood education and care while she was still at secondary school studying a VETiS course at Box Hill Institute. She completed a Certificate III and began working as a kindergarten assistant but she was keen to further her knowledge of the industry.
“Box Hill Institute offered me offered me the flexibility of working and studying at the same time,” Kristina said. “Building and developing the necessary skills while also working and putting the skills into action, it’s perfect.”
Kristina enrolled in the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care and was able to attend Tuesday night tutorials, which allowed her to meet with other students studying off campus. She was extremely grateful for “the amazing teachers that offer endless amounts of support”.
She said, “I have developed new skills that are necessary when working with other educators, families and most importantly the children.” Her passion for building relationships with families and children is evident.
Once Kristina has completed her diploma, she hopes to further study a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.
