Industry Experts Judge Visual Merchandising Displays for WorldSkills

Our Visual Merchandising students were put to the test for their WorldSkills Competition held on Friday 28 February 2020.

Seven Diploma of Visual Merchandising students competed in the event, showcasing their visual merchandising skillsets through multiple stages:

  • Research
  • Mood Board
  • Concept
  • Presentation
  • Prop Making
  • Preparation
  • OHS
  • Planning
  • Display Composition
  • Impact & Finish

Students were provided a box of 15 products and one mystery item, which they had to include in the display.

The product range was bathroom homewares and the theme was Australian Terrains. Students could select from one of four theme options for their display: bushland, urban, seaside or outback.

Three industry representatives judged the event including Mark Tigani, VM Windows at Country Road, Edward Little, VM Manager at Myer, and Mario Liebenberg, VM Manager Menswear at Co Brands Australia.

Winning the gold prize was Ellie (Chantelle) Wright with a high score of 75, silver went to Hayley Trewin with a score of 65.5, and Taylor Tiauli took out the Bronze with a score of 58.
