Teaching Innovations Win Platinum at the LearnX Awards 2020

2020-09-25

Congratulations to our Teaching Innovations team for their recent win at the 2020 LearnX Live! Virtual Summit & Awards Show 2020. The team won two Platinum Awards presented at the virtual show including Best eLearning widespread adoption and Best video eLearning design.

The LearnX Live! Awards are run by the LearnX Foundation, a non-profit organisation that supports and promotes advancements in workforce learning. The international awards programs recognise multiple fields within learning and talent management.

This year’s awards recognised the importance of eLearning in remote delivery, as the impacts of COVID-19 have so many learning institutions and workplaces working remotely.

Best eLearning widespread adoption

The Best eLearning widespread adoption award focused on Teaching Innovation’s Going Remote eLearning initiative in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Its remote delivery strategy was implemented in a short timeframe, supporting and training teachers and students to transition and adapt their teaching and learning methods. The award application highlighted the specialist support provided to the Music Department, the wide eLearning training programs to rapidly upskill staff, and the Remote Ready resources provided to employees as part of the remote delivery strategy.

Best video eLearning design

This entry won the highest award for the Agritourism project. The Teaching Innovations team collaborated with Mick Blake, Director Biosecurity Centre of Excellence, on a series of agritourism courses to be offered by Box Hill Institute. Over 450 video interviews were conducted with 46 agritourism operators and experts as part of the research. The microcredential course, Promote and Develop Agritourism, was delivered in Term 3 at Box Hill Institute. The Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Agritourism Operations are planned to commence in 2021.

Teaching Innovations’ Acting Manager Judi Sanford was excited to receive the platinum awards and said they were a testament to the skills and professionalism of her team during this challenging time.

Congratulations Teaching Innovations for ensuring that Box Hill Institute continues to provide quality education in the remote learning world.
