When Stephanie Hodge's job in the tourism industry went quiet during COVID-19 in 2020, she took a leap of faith and decided to improve her social media skills by enrolling in the Diploma of Social Media Marketing with Box Hill Institute. She said, "I had a little understanding of social media through my day-to-day use but thought that taking this course would help improve my skills and help with my career."
Stephanie completed the course in eight months and has returned to her work in a wholesale travel business, which helps to design and operate tours domestically and internationally.
Due to COVID-19, travel and tourism remains a complex industry to be working in, however, Stephanie has been using the skills she gained through the course to develop and grow her brand, especially through Instagram. She said, "I have gained followers and helped improve the number of views generated per image."
Stephanie’s favourite experience studying with Box Hill Institute was learning how to expand her social media footprint. She said that through her teacher’s guidance, the online learning 4environment became simple and easy to use. She said, "Noella was the best that anyone could ask for. She was knowledgeable, helpful, and bent over backward to help me with any questions I had. Nothing was too hard or too silly to answer."
After completing the diploma, Stephanie feels well equipped for implementing social media strategies for her business. She said, "I believe this course really helps you gain the skills you need to help prepare your social media for business."
She advises future students interested in the course to take it all in, read everything, and play around with everything they can. "The best practice you have is by spending the time looking through the different apps and services and seeing what works for others," she said.
