Additionally, your trainer will make at least four workplace visits, scheduled in collaboration with you and your employer, to assess your progress and provide guidance.
3. Workplace Based (Employed)
Designed for those already working in the dental industry, our workplace based course is also fully online. You'll benefit from the support of a dedicated trainer via our Student Web platform and Microsoft Teams. Just like the Industry mode, you'll enjoy a minimum of four workplace visits from your trainer to assess your performance and provide valuable insights.
Work Placement Requirements
To obtain your Certificate III in Dental Assisting, you must complete the requisite hours of work placement in a dental practice. Here's what's required based on your chosen delivery mode:
On Campus: complete a minimum of 300 hours of work placement within a dental practice. It's your responsibility to arrange this placement.
Workplace Based (Employed) and Industry (Traineeship): fulfill at least 350 hours of work placement within the dental practice where you are employed. This experience is crucial to your

PRE-TRAINING REVIEW - to assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment. A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.
TRAINEESHIP ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To apply for this course, you must also be registered with an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network Provider and have a training contract with an employer.
