Gain a solid foundation in the world of accounting and bookkeeping with our practical course. With this course, you can acquire the essential skills needed to excel in the field of accounting.

As you delve into topics like budgets, costing, assets, and inventory, you'll broaden your understanding of the accounting profession. You'll learn how to play a crucial role in helping businesses and finance teams enhance their financial performance.

These newly acquired skills will empower you to thrive in a corporate setting and efficiently handle office tax documentation. Plus, you'll be equipped to create and submit Business Activity Statements (BAS), fulfilling the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) education requirements for registration.

Your course will be online in an electronic based classroom delivered on Microsoft Teams, but to a scheduled timetable. To complete your study you will interact with your teachers and other students.  There is a recommended booklist for the course that is priced $199 for digital editions and $349 for paperbacks.

Full time: 5 months 

  • Term 3 - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday - classes are three hours conducted 9AM - 12PM and 1PM - 4PM (all classes will be recorded)
  • Term 4 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday - classes are three hours conducted 9AM - 12PM and 1PM - 4PM and Thursday night 6PM - 9PM (all classes will be recorded)

Part time : 11 months (the time taken to complete this course will vary depending on your input)

Entry Requirements


You must have successfully completed Year 12 or equivalent or be mature aged, or have substantial work experience in the Accounting/Bookkeeping related occupational field. Some manual or software accounting knowledge is an advantage.

Students will be required to purchase textbooks to complete studies.

PRE-TRAINING REVIEW - to assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment. A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.
