About the course

About the course

The Course in Initial Adult Literacy and Numeracy helps you to further develop skills in literacy and numeracy so that you have a greater opportunity to achieve your future goals like participating in the community, exploring further study options or gaining work placement and employment opportunities.

We make learning fun with hands-on activities that you would come across in everyday situations in your personal and working life.  Teaching will be based on your interests and individual needs to encourage your active involvement in class.  By the end of the course, you will be able to recognise basic time, money and measurement, and use simple words and phrases to strengthen your communication skills.

During your time with us, you will be supported by our friendly literacy and numeracy expert who will engage you with strategies that suit how you learn best.  There are 7 units in total and you will receive a Statement of Attainment for units successfully completed.

This course is delivered by Box Hill Institute for participants from a variety of Disability Service Providers.  If you wish to apply, your Disability Service Provider will refer you to the Box Hill Institute Course Coordinator or you can make an enquiry through Contact Us.
