Passionate about architectural design? Interested in construction? Prepare for a creative career as a building designer or architectural drafts-person with our course in building design. With a strong focus on digital applications, construction and sustainability, our course equips you with the skills and knowledge needed to become a valuable asset in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) industry.

Entry Requirements


There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

PRE-TRAINING REVIEW - to assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment. A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.

Pathways & Accreditation


Our graduates are guaranteed a pathway into Swinburne University’s Bachelor of Design (Architecture) course (a three year course equalling 300 points).  Being a Box Hill Institute graduate could mean you have your first year of the Swinburne degree exempt and are credited 100 points. This means, when you finish at Swinburne, you will have two qualifications, the Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural) and the Bachelor of Design (Architecture).

This course is government accredited and has national recognition

The qualification is aligned with the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level 6
