About the course

This leadership and management course is geared toward individuals who are in the early stages of their leadership and management journey. It aims to equip you with the skills needed to effectively lead and manage teams, take responsibility for your own performance, solve problems, and analyse information.

The course strikes a balance between addressing both predictable and unpredictable challenges that arise in a leadership role and is intended for those working as emerging leaders and managers. 

On completion of this course, you'll be taking responsibility for your own performance and accountable for achieving your own goals and tasks.  You'll also likely to provide leadership, guidance, and support to others. This means you'll be involved in leading and mentoring team members and  helping them to succeed and perform effectively.

You'll be expected to apply solutions to both predictable and unpredictable problems. You'll hone your problem solving skills and the ability to adapt your approach to different situations.

This course will improve your skills to analyse and evaluate information from various sources. You'll be able to gather information, make sense of it, and use it to inform your decisions.

Entry Requirements


There are no formal prerequisites for entry into this qualification.  

However, you will need to meet some selection criteria including: 

  • having some level of experience coordinating others is ideal
  • being 18 years or older
  • be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident, or humanitarian VISA holder
  • have relevant prior training and/or employment (to undertake the traineeship you should be employed either on a part time or full time basis)
  • have current employment relevant to this qualification
  • having Language Literacy & Numeracy (LLN) required as determined in the ASCF for the course 

 

PRE-TRAINING REVIEW - to assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment. A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.

TRAINEESHIP ENTRY REQUIREMENTS 

To apply for this course, you must also be registered with an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network Provider and have a training contract with an employer.

On completion of this course you may be able to articulate into various diplomas and advanced diplomas of management, including, but not limited to SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management or BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management. 

This course is government accredited and has national recognition

The qualification is aligned with the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level 4
